ESS Joins VA-AREA

June 9, 2011 – Boston, Massachusetts – ESS Group, Inc. is pleased to announce that it has joined the Virginia Alternative & Renewable Energy Association (VA-AREA), an organization comprised of over 60 alternative and renewable energy developers, contractors, installers, energy related organizations, energy providers, and associated companies/firms. VA-AREA works to enact pro-growth public policy to expand Virginia's renewable energy industry, create jobs, and attract investment.

ESS Director of Business Development Bob Erickson stated, “ESS is pleased to join VA-AREA in advancing the development and growth of the renewable energy industry in Virginia. With our experience in renewable and alternative energy, both terrestrial and offshore, we hope to share our practical insights from the industry’s perspective to this organization.”

VA-AREA was organized in late 2008 as a not-for-profit business trade association. Some of VA-AREA’s goals and objectives include providing education, advice, and support for policy makers, consumers, and state entities; encouraging strategic partnerships between the alternative/ renewable energy industry, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and institutions of higher learning; identifying barriers to alternative/renewable energy in Virginia and developing solutions; evaluating the progress of current voluntary Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) goals; and assisting the Commonwealth in meeting its goals pertaining to alternative/renewable energy required by the Virginia Energy Plan and the Governor’s energy goals.
