ESS Opens Virginia Office

March 8, 2011 – ESS Group, Inc., a leading provider of environmental consulting and engineering services, today announced the opening of a new office in Hampton, Virginia. This new office represents the third office for ESS, which already has operations in Wellesley, Massachusetts and East Providence, Rhode Island.

“This new office firmly establishes ESS in the Mid-Atlantic region and provides a convenient base of operations to serve our existing and growing clientele in Virginia and beyond,” said Charles Natale, President and CEO. “We anticipate the Virginia office will be one of many important developments for ESS in 2011.”

ESS is well-known in the clean energy industry for its role in securing approvals for the Cape Wind Renewable Energy Project. The company is also currently working with clients to plan, permit, and build major generation and electric transmission projects, involving upland wind, biomass, bi-directional transmission, and the repowering of existing facilities from New Hampshire to the Carolinas.

The expansion of ESS operations geographically to the tidewater region of Virginia was initiated in part by increased activity in Mid-Atlantic offshore energy development. “The Governor of Virginia and government leaders in neighboring states have voiced their commitment to clean energy development,” stated Bob Erickson, ESS Director of Business Development.  “With our expertise in offshore wind, all kinds of clean energy, and coastal permitting, this region offers great opportunity for ESS.”
