ESS Presents at New England Lakes ConferenceMay 2, 2011 – East Providence, Rhode Island – ESS Vice President of Ecological & Environmental Permitting Services Carl Nielsen and Aquatic Ecologist Matt Ladewig will present at the Annual Meeting of the New England Chapter of the North American Lake Management Society (NEC-NALMS) on June 4. The event is entitled “2011 Our New England Waters: Watershed Management in a Changing World.” Nielsen and Ladewig will speak about the use of limno-barriers as a tool to assist in the control of small or early stage invasive weed beds and as a possible alternative to traditional herbicides or diver harvesting. The conference will be hosted by the Northeast States and Caribbean Islands Water Program and RI’s Save The Lakes. The event intends to provide a productive exchange of information and ideas among those involved with lake and watershed management and protection at the local, state, and federal levels. The two-day conference will kickoff with a summit of volunteer water quality monitoring program coordinators followed by hands-on workshops.
In anticipation of the conference Nielsen stated, “We are pleased to be presenting at this NEC-NALMS event and look forward to sharing a new and innovative approach we have recently developed for combating exotic and invasive aquatic weeds in lakes and ponds.” Visit the ESS website for more information on our Water Resource Management & Ecological Services |
