ESS Selected as Supervising Contractor for Davis Liquid Waste Superfund Site Project October 6, 2011 – ESS Group, Inc. is pleased to announce that it has been designated as the Supervising Contractor for the Davis Liquid Waste Superfund Site Project in Smithfield, Rhode Island. ESS has been working at the Davis Site since late 2000, including activities associated with the previous Pre-Design Investigation Program in support of the groundwater remedy, regulatory, and technical support for one of the Potentially Responsible Parties (PRPs) and regulatory negotiations during the development of the Remedial Design/Remedial Action Consent Decree and associated Statement of Work for the OU-2 remedy. Bill Chapman, ESS Environmental Geosciences & Engineering Practice Leader, commented, “ESS is very excited to be selected as the Supervising Contractor for this Project. We look forward to continuing to provide the PRPs with effective project implementation and technically-sound strategies throughout the various upcoming phases of the Project.” The Project is currently in the implementation phase of the RD/RA Statement of Work that was negotiated with the Unites States Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) and the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (RIDEM) during the first half of 2011. This program focuses on the design and implementation of the remedial approach for overburden groundwater and investigates the use of monitored natural attenuation as the remedy for bedrock groundwater (OU-4).
