ESS Supports 2011 Pan-Massachusetts Challenge

June 16, 2011 – Boston, Massachusetts – ESS Group, Inc. is pleased to announce that the company has made a donation to the 2011 Pan-Massachusetts Challenge (PMC), the nation’s first original fundraising bike-a-thon, which includes a pledge for the PMC team of an ESS employee who will be riding to “give back and do what we can to help with the fight against cancer.”

The PMC today raises more money than any other athletic fundraising event in the country. Since its inception in 1980, the PMC has contributed $303 million to cancer research and treatment at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Each year, riders from around the world travel to participate in the PMC. In 2010, the PMC donated 100% of every rider-raised dollar directly to cancer research and treatment at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute through its Jimmy Fund. Over 200 PMC riders are cancer survivors, thousands of riders and volunteers have lost loved ones to cancer, and others merely ride in honor of those in treatment.

The PMC supports the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and the pioneering work performed by doctors, nurses, and scientists there, including the search for cures for cancers and related diseases. The PMC generates over 60 percent of the Jimmy Fund's annual revenue. The PMC's 2011 goal is to raise more than the $33 million it raised in 2010 for the Jimmy Fund.
