ESS Welcomes Rick Lutz, PG

September 26, 2011 – ESS Group, Inc. is pleased to welcome Rick Lutz, PG, as a Senior Consultant in the company’s Hampton, Virginia office. Rick combines technical expertise in geology/hydrogeology with strong business development, federal contracting, innovative technology deployment, and overall business management skills. He has over 25 years of experience in the environmental service industry and has served clients in diverse sectors including energy facilities, natural gas pipelines, electric utilities, commercial and residential developments, water and wastewater facilities, and Class 1 Railroads.

Rick is excited to join the ESS team and states, “The regulatory and technical experience as well as the overall skill set of my new colleagues is remarkable. ESS has a track record of taking on the truly tough projects with complex regulatory and technical obstacles and finding winning solutions for our clients.” As a Senior Consultant for ESS, Rick will direct multidisciplinary technical teams, coordinate field programs, and manage ESS projects to ensure that they meet client technical expectations and business goals.

Rick has a Master of Science in Geology from Old Dominion University in Norfolk and a Bachelor of Science in Geology from the College of William and Mary. He is a Registered Professional Geologist in the State of Tennessee, and was recently appointed to the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality Regulatory Advisory Panel on water-related renewable energy projects.

Most recently, Rick served as a Senior Program Manager for Apex Companies, LLC and also as a Vice President of Gannet Fleming, Inc., a global 2500-person environmental consulting engineering firm. Prior to this position, Rick served nearly 20 years as the CEO of IMS Environmental Services, Inc., a 200-employee environmental consulting and remediation firm headquartered in Norfolk, Virginia.
