Massachusetts Solar Park Completed

ESS congratulates Cathartes Private Investments on the recent completion of the solar energyWestford Solar Park. The 4.5 MW solar project was developed in a partnership between the state, the North Andover-based renewable energy company Nexamp, and Cathartes Private Investments. ESS performed preliminary due diligence and site assessment reporting services on the property and provided Cathartes an analysis of renewable energy development opportunities. ESS Project Manager Terry Orr attended the October 25 project unveiling in Westford, Massachusetts. The 22-acre solar park is now the largest privately owned solar plant in the state of Massachusetts.

ESS Practice Leader Bill Chapman enjoyed an evening of awards and recognition for those who have made significant contributions to furthering the goals of affordable housing at the 44th Annual Citizens' Housing and Planning Association (CHAPA) Dinner in Boston.  CHAPA encourages the production and preservation of housing that is affordable to low and moderate income families and individuals and to foster diverse and sustainable communities through planning and community development.

SAME 2011 Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference

ESS Senior Consultant Rick Lutz will be attending the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) 2011 Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference in Virginia Beach. The technical program for the conference will address A/E/C issues and services of interest to the Department of Defense including energy, water resources, and construction support. ESS holds a GSA Schedule for federal work and Rick looks forward to networking with uniformed services representatives and prospective teaming partners at this event.

A&WMA-NES Fall 2011 Conference

ESS Energy and Industrial Services Practice Leader Mike Feinblatt will attend the Air & Waste Management Association New England Section (A&WMA-NES) Fall 2011 Conference. Curt Spalding, the Regional Administrator for EPA New England (Region 1), will be the Keynote Speaker of the event. The conference will provide institutional, regulatory, and private sector professionals the opportunity to discuss developments related to the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) Air Toxics, New Source Review, Industrial Waste and Community Right to Know regulations, and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions.

NYSERDA 2011 Conference

ESS Senior Vice President Chris Rein is presenting at the Environmental Monitoring, Evaluation, and Protection (EMEP) Conference, "Linking Science with Policy" for the New York State Energy Research & Development Authority (NYSERDA). Policy makers and nationally renowned scientists will come together to share information on environmental research initiatives in New York State. The program provides scientifically credible and objective information on environmental impacts of energy systems to assist the state in developing science-based and cost-effective policies to mitigate impacts. Chris will discuss the most important areas of research for offshore wind energy in 2012 and beyond.

VA-AREA Annual Meeting and Cocktail Reception

ESS Senior Consultant Rick Lutz will be attending the Virginia Alternative & Renewable Energy Association (VA-AREA) Annual Meeting and Cocktail Reception. ESS has been a member of VA-AREA since June 2011. VA-AREA is an organization comprised of over 60 members who are working together to enact pro-growth public policy to expand Virginia's renewable energy industry. The technical program will provide findings of studies focused on the Renewable Energy Industry in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
