ESS to Evaluate Offshore Wind Facility Lighting Schemes for Bureau of Ocean Energy Management ESS was recently awarded a BOEM contract to review and evaluate how proposed offshore wind facility lighting schemes may impact coastal and marine wildlife (i.e., birds, bats, marine mammals, sea turtles, and fish). The results of the study will provide additional knowledge needed for balanced decision making in the management and development of renewable energy and alternate use projects on the Federal waters of the Outer Continental Shelf. Specific tasks will include reviewing existing scientific studies on lighting scheme impacts; compiling offshore wind facility guidelines, rules, and regulations; and identifying impacts and mitigation measures. Groundbreaking on Historic Hayden Building Restoration ESS congratulates Historic Boston Inc. and their development team for the historic Hayden Building renovation on its recent groundbreaking. ESS provided Civil Engineering services for the project. The building, designed by prominent American architect Henry Hobson Richardson, is considered a prototype for the modern skyscraper. Richardson also designed Trinity Church in Boston. Completion of the $5.8 million renovation is expected early next year.
