ESS is pleased to welcome Deirdra Taylor, CPA as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer overseeing all business units. Deirdra, who will be based in our Waltham office, is a Senior Level Executive with over 25 years of experience in business management and leadership in the environmental consulting and engineering field.  At ESS, she will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the company and will primarily focus on leading operational and fiscal management responsibilities. ESS Wins Navy Contract

ESS is part of a multi-disciplinary team that was recently awarded a 5-year, $50M contract to assist the Navy in preparing environmental and military range planning documents to support the Tactical Training Theater Assessment and Planning (TAP) Program for the Atlantic Fleet. As a subcontractor, ESS will support the team in preparing Incidental Take and/or Harassment permits, Endangered Species Act Biological Assessments, Marine Mammal Protection Act permits, and Encroachment Action Plans, specifically involving issues of offshore energy.

EBC Rhode Island Chapter Program: Update on Recent FEMA National Flood Insurance Program Changes

Vice President Payson Whitney will attend this event, sponsored by the Environmental Business Council. This program will include an update by Jessica Stimson, the RI Floodplain Mapping Coordinator, on remapping efforts, recent and proposed regulatory changes, and ongoing flood mitigation efforts along the state's south shore.

EBC Rhode Island Chapter Program: Update on Solid Waste Management in Rhode Island

Vice President Chris Rein attended this program, a discussion focused on solid waste management in Rhode Island. Key topics discussed were municipal planning strategies, changes to the Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan, and reduction and handling measures for 2014 and beyond. ESS client NEO Energy gave a presentation regarding its anaearobic digestion fertilizer and energy plant.
