December 7, 2009 - Boston, Massachusetts - ESS Group, Inc. is pleased to announce that Principal Scientist Carol Wasserman presented at the American Wind Energy Association's (AWEA) second annual Offshore Wind Power Workshop held at the Seaport Hotel in Boston, Massachusetts from December 2-3, 2009. The event was attended by offshore wind stakeholders from both the United States and Europe.

The purpose of the event was for these stakeholders to gather to discuss the emerging US offshore wind industry, the recent release of the Minerals Management Service's final rule for renewable energy development on the Outer Continental Shelf, and the latest on relevant offshore wind topics.

Wasserman presented "Efficient Permitting: Regulatory Experience with Offshore Renewables Then and Now." This panel looked at current processes and how to improve on integrating resource data gathering and ocean planning; knowledge about the environmental impacts of various energy options; and initial regulatory experience with leasing and permitting offshore renewable energy facilities and technologies on the Outer Continental Shelf. The suggested improvements will help to foster a supportive permitting environment for sustainable offshore wind development.
