Storm Water Assessment & Management |
 |
As natural landscapes continue to be converted into developed properties with associated buildings, roads, and parking areas, the management of storm water runoff within affected watersheds is becoming a focus area for many regulators.
ESS Group, Inc. has developed and implemented storm water sampling programs and management solutions for many state agencies, municipalities, and local level watershed organizations, as well as for industrial clients and private developers. In order to effectively manage storm water it is important to accurately assess the quantity and quality of the runoff. ESS has demonstrated an ability to sample almost any form of storm water runoff (e.g. “first-flush” vs. “late-flush”) from virtually any source. Sources that we regularly sample include storm drains, catch basins, pipes, streams, spillways, parking lots, and roofs.
The assessment of impacts from storm water runoff on receiving water quality, and the associated biotic community, requires a wide array of expertise. ESS is able to draw from our staff of biologists, hydrologists, chemists, engineers, and regulatory specialists to design the most appropriate and economical set of Best Management Practices (BMPs) to minimize or eliminate the impact of storm water runoff on downstream resources.
ESS has prepared numerous Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs) and storm water discharge permit applications for various facilities and operations under both state and federal guidelines. Many innovative technologies and management strategies have been incorporated with the goal of reducing the quantity of storm water runoff generated and improving runoff quality.
