Our staff are experts in characterizing freshwater, estuarine and marine ecosystems and have completed projects throughout the Northeast and beyond, including but not limited to the Great Lakes, mid-Atlantic, and The Bahamas.

Sampling and Survey Services

ESS conducts ecological mapping and collects biological samples in a variety of freshwater, estuarine, and marine environments. Whether the target is shellfish, submerged aquatic vegetation, or fish, ESS has the field experience and technical resources to efficiently execute biological surveys for a wide range of aquatic communities. ESS conducts most biological field and laboratory work using in-house resources, which allows us to directly offer a wide variety of services at a competitive price. Our fisheries and aquatic resources survey and monitoring services include:

Taxonomy

In addition to field identification of shellfish, fish, and vegetation, ESS identifies marine and freshwater invertebrates collected from benthic samples in our own lab, which is overseen by a North American Benthological Society Certified Taxonomist. We also provide digital microscopic imaging of specimens upon request.
