Natural Resource Damage Assessments & Mitigation
Natural Resource Damage AssessmentsESS staff have conducted numerous threatened and endangered species surveys and habitat assessments of aquatic, marine, and terrestrial fauna and flora. These efforts have involved extensive field programs and coordination with the US Fish & Wildlife Service, National Marine Fisheries Services, and state fish and wildlife Natural Heritage Programs. Natural Resource Damage Mitigation and RestorationESS scientists and engineers work in partnership with federal and state agencies, municipalities, and non-profit associations to plan and implement habitat restoration. Our experience in habitat restoration ranges from baseline site characterization and modeling to design development, regulatory permitting, and monitoring. ESS wetland mitigation and restoration plans combine our understanding of ecological principals with sound engineering practices. Our services for natural resource restoration include:

ESS has been involved in all phases of natural resource damage assessments from pre-assessment screening to development of an assessment plan that quantifies damages through implementation of natural resource restoration. Our staff have been involved in natural resource damage assessments under both Department of the Interior and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration regulations and have worked directly with Natural Resource trustee councils.
