Stephen Wood is a Vice President at ESS Group, Inc. with more than 31 years of experience in environmental permitting and project management. Trained as a scientist and attorney, he is widely recognized for his experience and expertise in all areas of energy and related transmission facility policy and siting regulations. Mr. Wood routinely provides feasibility assessments, permitting strategies, and licensing services for these major and complex projects. He has led several ESS wind energy projects for commercial onshore and offshore facilities and community-scale installations, as well as third party review of proposed wind facilities under state and federal environmental programs ranging from 100 kW to over 450 MW in size. Mr. Wood also managed permitting for a 190-mile kVDC electric transmission project and a 1,800 MW repowering project and provided strategic consulting for a 1,600 MW nuclear facility expansion. He has provided project management services for more than a decade as a member of the Project Management Committee for the $40 million remediation of a Superfund Site in Massachusetts.

Mr. Wood actively represents ESS as a member of several energy industry organizations including the Independent Power Producers of New York (IPPNY) and Northeast Energy and Commerce Association (NECA). He has worked on several white papers analyzing energy facility licensing policies, as well as infrastructure capacity, reliability, and development opportunities. Mr. Wood is regularly consulted to conduct due diligence for energy facility acquisition and also leads ESS projects involving nuclear and clean-coal technologies.
