Wildlife Habitat / Protected Species

ESS offers a variety of services for habitat protection, wildlife conservation, and protected species. These services include wildlife and protected species inventories, habitat surveys, and programs for marine, aquatic, and terrestrial habitat restoration. Our wildlife and protected species staff includes biologists, ecologists, and scientists with advanced degrees in aquatic ecology, botany, fisheries, ornithology, herpetology, wildlife ecology, zoology, and invertebrate zoology.

Field Surveys

Site-specific field surveys of flora and fauna require an understanding of the growing season, flowering period, breeding/nesting season, migratory behavior and habitat requisites of each species targeted by the survey. Identifying target species, seasonal attributes, and specific habitat requirements allows wildlife and protected species field investigations and surveys to be implemented in the most cost-effective manner. Accurate and timely identification of plants, fish, wildlife, and benthic infauna is an integral component in ESS wildlife habitat and protected species assessments.
